Dental Crowns

Picture
At Factoria Dental Care, we strive to create restorations to last several years, and sometimes for a patient's lifetime. Both Dr Raymond and Dr Jason are conservative with their preparations, because preserving the tooth structure is crucial to the longevity of your tooth. Crowns are the ultimate full-coverage restoration. They come in a variety of materials with variable advantages. The types we offer are Full Gold, Porcelain-Fused to Metal (or "PFM"), or Full Ceramic. Full Gold crowns are the "gold standard" (forgive the pun) in terms of durability and seal of the tooth. Their drawback is their gold appearance that does not match your natural tooth color. Full ceramic crowns are the most esthetic crowns available. They are made from materials that can mimic the appearance and translucency of natural tooth structure almost perfectly. Their durability is also good, but may be contraindicated for patients who have very strong bites. PFM crowns combine the advantages of both metal and ceramic materials. There is a metal substructure that is covered with a ceramic layer to give the crown a natural appearance. The metal underneath, lends it's strength to support the ceramic on top, so you have the strength of a metal coping with the esthetics of porcelain. They are slightly less esthetic because of the thinner amount of porcelain used, thus having less translucency. However, they can still be color matched to your existing teeth. All crowns are great restorations and have their respective indications. We'll make sure we educate and work with you in order to meet your needs and create a beautiful smile for you.
